Job Description


To ensure the Quality and OI administration for the SGS KATHU LABORATORY is well instituted and maintained.

  • To take full control of the SGS document control system to be in line with the SGS high level system requirements and ISO17025 for SGS Kathu (UMK).
  • Register, format, distribute and control the Geochem system document process.
  • To implement and maintain a graphical statistics system for proficiency testing within the current PT Schemes.
  • To administer the improvement system registers and lists and to ensure overdue action items are immediately brought to the attention of the Laboratory Manager.
  • To ensure accurate and comprehensive minutes are taken at monthly quality meetings, management review meetings etc.
  • To monitor the training programs drawn up and ensure that scheduled training dates are being adhered to.
  • Operate to the highest standard of ethics as indicated in SGS integrity Programs.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of systems within the Laboratory.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the management system.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by your direct line manager.
  • Responsible for all Health, Safety and environmental procedures.
  • Up keeping of the Contractors pack files.
  • Conduct weekly safety / talk meetings.
  • Complete all Safety documentation for the Month-End OI Reports.
  • Implementing SGS and UMK Safety Policies, COP’s and SOP’s.
  • Maintaining all existing HSE documentation and improve on it continuously.
  • Appointed as SHE Coordinator and ICAM investigator.
  • Monitor and report all non-compliance of Quality reporting deadlines and schedules.
  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action. Update weekly verifications.
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Diagnose all suspect results and assist in rectifying the problem whether it is equipment, personnel, or analytical.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified, and ensure its closure.
  • Perform and complete all standard weekly, monthly and Quarterly Quality reports.

Qualifications


Education

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Certificate in overall Quality Management will be an advantage
  • Any Safety courses / practical experience on HSE control in a Laboratory


Experience

  • 5 Years administrative experience
  • Advanced Microsoft software experience
  • G6 / SLIM experience
  • Quality (and safety) management system experience will be an advantage, especially ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
